Associate Professor in Minimal Intervention Dentistry at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands before his retirement. He has been employed as a private practitioner, researcher, university lecturer and policy maker in Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. His current interest covers minimal intervention dentistry, the Atraumatic Restorative Treatment approach, epidemiology, and oral health services. He holds three Guest Professorships and received a number of distinctions.
Contemporary Treatment of Caries Lesions: From ‘Drill and Fill’ to Prevention and Management
Industry develops caries electronic detection devices to assist the dentist. But how valid are they? Are they better than the visual clinical examinations (vce). During the last two decades, a number of new vce’s have been introduced in oral health. The presentation discusses briefly the usefulness of contemporary visual and electronic caries detection devices.
